In the Mindful Wellness Lab, we use biobehavioral methods framed with a holistic approach to:
~ with the ultimate goal of improving health of women, children, and families ~
Mothers - children - families can THRIVE because they have the internal and external resources to achieve health in body, mind, & spirit
How do we get there? Through collaborations with the community and conducting the research studies describe below, we hope to create evidence that well-being in body, mind, & spirit is essential and that supporting wellness should be the standard of care

for pregnant women nationwide;
participants will use and provide feedback on the "Mamma Mia" app during pregnancy and postpartum
for minority and/or low-income pregnant women in Virginia experiencing stress, depression, & anxiety;
those enrolled will participate in either prenatal yoga or prenatal education group classes
Virginians working together to understand long-term effects of COVID-19 in children and families;
individuals age 3-25 and their caregivers are encouraged to participate
Fetal ultrasound to help build connections between mother and child and to enhance access to prenatal/ mental health care
Everyone knows what a birth plan is—but not everyone has thought about creating a plan for emotional health and well-being during their motherhood journey
